Remember this lady? They didn’t believe her either.

I don’t like Washington, I tell people all the time what happens there is of no consequence to us locally. It is an outer space circus land.

But, I have been following the confirmation hearings, at a distance. A Supreme Court nomination DOES affect our lives on a local level and I find it deplorable that Thune & Rounds support Mr. Kavanaugh. We will get to that in a moment.

The one thing I remind people whether you are a Conservative, Moderate or Liberal, shouldn’t matter. We should be very concerned about this process because this is a life long appointment. We can’t vote Mr. Kavanaugh out of office in a few years if he makes bad decisions. He may be there for 30-40 years. The highest level of scrutiny should be given about every aspect of his life. Besides the sexual assault accusations, I have many concerns.

First off, I don’t think there has been enough study done about his years serving President GW Bush (one of the worst presidents ever besides Reagan). I also think he is way to conservative to be replacing Justice Kennedy. What we need is a strong, Constitutional Moderate. NOT a right wing ideologue who wants to put the Supreme Court backwards 60 years.

We must also remember that if the tables were turned and this was a Liberal appointment, the Republicans would be doing the same thing. That is just how Washington works. So when I hear Sen Graham chastise the Democrats on the committee I just shake my head.

But most importantly when we are trying to figure out who is telling the truth about the sexual assault, I remind people of a few simple things.

What does Dr. Ford have to gain by coming forward? What does Mr. Kavanaugh have to gain? He has all to gain, she has nothing but living with her memories of this assault. I guess I would give her testimony more weight based on this.

Maybe Mr. Kavanaugh has blacked this out of his memory, maybe he really doesn’t remember doing it. That is a distinct possibility. But it doesn’t change that it happened, and she is pretty sure it was him.

We already have a misogynist as president, hopefully he will be voted out of office and not serve a second term. But once Kavanaugh is confirmed, we can’t turn back. Remember that when defending his appointment.

Explain constitutional moderate. All judges should be strict constitutionalist and weigh their decisions based on what the law and the constitution of the United States say and not how they think things ought to be. The court does not sway with the political winds – thankfully. But elections have consequences and TRUMP gets to name his appointees.

I’m sure Kennedy disagrees with you that Kavanaugh is not a good replacement for him on the court. TRUMP was very transparent about the judicial philosophy he’s looking for in court appointments. If Kennedy didn’t agree he wouldn’t have decided to retire under this administration. Also, Kennedy and Kavanaugh both start with ‘K’, so there’s another thing in common.

I am having a hard time getting past what frat boy wrote in his high school yearbook. How he explained it away was laughable. The woman who was raped passed a lie detector test. Frat boy refuses to take one. Collins, Murkowski, and Flake will have their chance to do the right thing. thune and rounds have already mailed it in.

  4. Well, Mark, believe it or not some people do things out of civic duty and not for money and if Dr. Ford can raise millions to bring awareness to sexual assault, she will not be a liberal saint but an American Patriot.

  5. I often tell people that the model of being a real Supreme Court Justice lies in Justice Brandeis. If you ever have the opportunity to read about him you will understand the duty and obligation of what it means to be a Supreme Court Justice.

We need none of these qualities sitting on the Supreme Court. TJ, do believe a frat boy with anger management issues is fit to be a judge? Any judge?

  8. Even if the sexual assaults did not occur, I still take issue with his lawyering for GW Bush. One of the most corrupt administrations this country has ever seen.

  10. In my life time, I have heard allegations of rape made against a governor, a governor’s son, two presidents, and now a Supreme Court nominee. In all cases, it is alleged, but how many of these are actually true and how many more by other political leaders in this country are there, that are not known, and overall how common is this?….

Thus, it begs an other question, that if this is quite common or common enough, then what type and number of sociopaths do we really then have running our country at all governmental levels and on both sides of the aisle?

I once read that, in order, to be a successful CEO, you had to have sociopathic qualities, so perhaps that conclusion sadly answers my final question by analogy….

    #WhatTheHell

  11. Well, I understand some of the author’s points on this but, regardless of what you may think, Facts matter. You can always tell the slants on this site by the comments like frat boy in relation to Judge Kavanaugh.

1 – Sen Feinstein had this letter since June/July time yet never turned it over until a week before the vote and Dr Ford said she wanted this handled private

2 – All 4 witnesses she named denied this happened in sworn affidavits, one was her good friend

3 – She lied about being unable to make it because she is scared to fly yet testifed she flys all over the place all the time

4 – Kavanaugh had detailed records from 1982 that show where he was most of the time

5 – She was 15 at the time, meaning should not drive yet could not remember how she got there and how she got home. She could only recall who the people were and what happened and left her friend at the party.

6 -Her own therapist’s notes she used as evidence state it was 4 men, not the 2 she named in her sworn statement.

7 – Minus all the FACTs on Kavanaugh’s side all she has is her word.

Now with all that being said, we are trying this guy in the media and off emotion and the LEFT loves to use this as a tool and I believe they are using it to just delay so there is not vote BEFORE the midterms because if there is, the 10 Democrats in Red states such as Heidenkamp, Manchin, Donnelly, and McCaskill would be forced to vote either for or against. If the vote against him they risk losing re-election by upsetting the voters who supported President Trump. If they vote yes on him they piss off their base and the Democrats don’t show up to vote and they are out. Its a position they would rather not have to take before the election. This is just a BS delay tactic.

Now, this is why this is dangerous, we need to stop trying people in the media before facts come out, especially with sexual assault, rape, etc. If people remember the Duke Lacross Case or the Tawany Bradley cases. Those were both tried in the court of public opinion and both were completely wrong. Both cases brought by a far left POS Al Sharpton.

This whole situation is horrible and if which I believe, are not true and Judge Kavanaugh is innocent, all we did was drag an otherwise decent man through the ringer.

For those who question Dr Fords motives, well I don’t know what did or did not happen to her but, she sure has a shitload of money now via GoFundMe pages, approaching almost 1 million dollars. So yeah she is geting some cash out of this.

Now I am sure I will hear all the bashing of the facts and bring up a bunch of other shit that really has no bearing on the Supreme Court Nomination but, the only thing this author really got right was the concern about how messed up this process is. I agree but, unfortunately, all the stink is coming from the Left because they could not oppose his record so now they smear and delay. Its truly all they have and they are praying they can win back the Senate in Midterms, if not they are screwed.

  12. Ughh,

How come Kavanaugh didn’t call for a reopening of the FBI probe, if he has nothing to hide. Kavanaugh said it should be up to the Committee when asked by a Senator, (which is actually the Republican majority when he speaks of a Committee decision (before Flake acted)), that should determine that, but if you have nothing to hide, then why not proactively call for a further FBI probe?

As far as the allegation of the Democrats sandbagging this rape allegation, well, let me ask you a question: If someone robs a bank but you do not, or the authorities do not learn of the robbery until later, perhaps even months later, does that mean that the robbery never happen?

But then again, our State Republican AG claimed that an unsuccessful hack is not a crime, so maybe I already know your answer to my question.. (Hey, whatever happen with the other outstandings subpoenas on that case anyhow?)

And as far as Democratic “motives,” well, when McConnell would not hold hearings for Garland was that not motive driven, or couldn’t he find room in his “Kavanaughistic calendar” to hold them?

    #Biden2020Garland2021

  13. Speaking of Ken Starr, like Kavanaugh, an associate of Starr’s, Starr too has his own sex scandal:

    https://www.texastribune.org/2017/12/20/court-filing-claims-starr-and-other-baylor-leaders-helped-student-accu/

I guess it is all karma for their self-rightousness towards Clinton, huh?

Oh, and what is it, that they say about not throwing rocks if you live in a glass house?

  14. JKC – Typical Liberal drivel. This is a delay tactic pure and simple. I am willing to bet you that “regular” people will see through this BS that is being pulled and it will be reflected in the MidTerms.

You failed to refute any of the facts that I threw out there. She is not credible and has ZERO proof dude, zero. Here the story is contradicting and just because someone accuses does not mean we hold everything up and especially at the last hour. This rob a bank analogy has no basis cause the bank was not robbed cause she has ZERO proof. If you even listen to your OWN peeps (Joe Biden) who said the FBI does not come to conclusions they just provide info. The senators can ask all the same questions the FBI could and the reason the didn’t cause its a nothingburger. So once again, it’s about facts and you just came up with a bunch of shit that had nothing to do with facts. This is why I predict the Dems will lose Senate seats vs pick up.

On a side note, the Garland thing was a precedent set by both Dems and Reps to not nominate or act on Supreme Court on lame duck year for president. I believe Senator Schumer said so in the past and it was precedent. When the shoe is on the other foot you are all pissed off when it happens to you. Just like the Nuclear option that Harry Reid imposed 5 years ago and now Dems are regretting breaking tradition cause now President Trump can get 2 on the court maybe 3 if Emporer Palpatine (ginsgerg) dies in the next 5 years, which is likely as she is old as dirt.

The presumption of innocence is imperative in our country and if we lose that we are in deep shit. If Leftists didn’t have double standards they would have none at all. Notice I didn’t say Liberals because at least a Liberal would listen to the debate and hear facts and not convict based on some 36-year-old accusation that has no proof and has been refuted.

Come with facts about THIS case and THIS man or just shut it off. This is why folks like myself have a hard time talking to people like you because you won’t even live up to your own standards.

I believe the FBI investigation is warranted. If there’s a history of this behavior, it’s a problem. As for me, I’m glad I’m not a senator voting on this decision. Is this a smoke screen to hide Trump from the public for awhile?

  20. Double Standards on October 1, 2018 at 9:51 am said:

Matt has a valid point about the double standards here and yes I understand the voting thing but, Dems have stood by Hillary and Bill through VERY credible accusations and even lawsuits (Paula Jones) and through the fact that Bill lost is law license over the Lewinsky debacle. Hillary came out and said all women should be believed. That only counts for her political opponents and not her husband. The biggest difference in the case with Kavenaugh is that there is ZERO evidence to support the allegations and even her friend did not support her story. So once again pick a lane folks and stay in it and be consistent, don’t fake moral outrage at uncorroborated and unsubstantiated accusations. There are numerous examples of folks claiming something and ruining someone career reputation or even losing their life only to be proven false. Emit Till is a great example guy who was lynched all off a women who swore he was eyeballing her only later to claim it was a lie. Now as Justice Thomas once said famously, this is a high tech lynching, meaning you dont have to have proof anymore just accusations to ruin a career and a reputation. I would think Democrats of all people who supposedly believe in due process and innocent until proven guilty would understand that.

If this is the new norm then I would like to accuse I3wis of assaulting me in a bathroom 20 years ago and ensure I get to speak at your next job interview. Now that sounds stupid but, that is the same logic we are applying here

Facts people facts. Take your emotions and opinions out of it and just look at it what has been presented. She is wrong and the facts back that up!

  21. DS,

Bill Clinton was impeached, only one of two presidents in history, and disbarred for five years.

    Matt,

Your logic is lacking. I wrote, “on both sides of the aisle.”

    Ughh,

Actually the bank was robbed, because just about every Republcan Senator admits something happen to Dr. Ford.

Oh, and your “nothingburger” comment is very telling. I now know more about you then where the alleged rape happen.

Presumption of innocence,? But isn’t that the reason why the FBI is now doing a further probe to get to the bottom of this, one way or an other? An additional probe that I might add, that neither the Republican Senators nor Kavanuagh wanted.

If the Garland example was established tradition, then why did Obama ever nominate him?

Secondly, your rant about Reid is not logical and is non topical, because it shows nominations getting done and not being obstructed by an “Obstructionist GOP.”

  22. Yellow behind the comment means I’m the editor of the blog.

  23. Once again …prove with FACTS he is guilty, not some lady showing up 36 years later. Dude has gone through 7 FBI background checks and nothing has come up. Now you want another one, this is a delay tactic pure and simple.

Stop spouting off about other circumstances and other cases and refute the facts.

1 – She lied about flying – FACT
2 – Witnesses all support Kavanaugh – FACT
3 – Her therapists notes say 4 guys now its 2 – FACT
4 – All she has is her testimony which is contradicted by his – FACT

We can sit here all day and discuss other cases, both parties, who did what before ect. Lets try to stick to this and discuss FACT. The reason you guys can’t is the facts are not on your side and bringing in other talking points about history are beside the point.

And since YOU are talking a bunch of shit saying you know me because of my Nothingburger comment shows you know nothing about me.

I am very well aware that I have come to a Liberal site to read articles and many I find fascinating but, to attack me personally shows me what kind of person you are that you can’t stand having a rational discussion. How about you just sack up say hey I dont want a conservative on the court because you disagree, at least I will respect your views. Your playing the same game the Dem leadership is playing, we can’t get him on merits so we will drudge up some 36 year smear with no evidence. I would agree, I knew this post would bring out the ‘moon bats’. Just listening to Belfrage’s constant rotation of the 6 same callers over the past 2 weeks has been comical at times but just mostly sad. A guy this morning (who is regular bat sh*t crazy right wing nut) felt God helped Trump select Kavanaugh to over turn Roe V Wade to ‘save the unborn’. It would be virtually impossible to overturn the decision, mostly due to the fact that women who are raped or their health in jeopardy are going to have to have a legal right to abortion. While I don’t agree with abortion as a form of birth control, I have often argued if we would just give out FREE birth control to any American that wants it, we would virtually see abortion disappear. But what do I know, I’m just a ‘moon bat’ liberal 🙂

Don’t we know how this will transpire? Ford (the accuser) will make a fortune on a book deal. Feinstein will endorse her for political office. The senators who vote on Kavanaugh will be labeled prudes or perverts depending upon their vote. Kavanaugh will become a justice and not be recognized often unless there’s another vote on abortion. We’ll go back to our dull lives until Trump gets caught with another porn star.

  50. Its funny Scott, I’ve gotten more feedback on stuff related to Kavanaugh than anything else I’ve posted.

Looks to be the same way here.

Peter. This is a defining moment. Most women are afraid to report because they are afraid they will not be believed. Just read some of the posts right here. In the face of overwhelming testimony by Ford, there are knuckle draggers who simply will not believe her or millions of others like her.
