There was some glaring remarks in the Report; Falls-Safety-Review
A couple that stuck out to me were the stairs to nowhere, how the signage is NOT working and mostly adults are the ones climbing around on the wet rocks.
I also hope we didn’t pay to much for this report, a 6 page report with about 2 1/2 pages of type.
I have said all along a couple things that would deter more people to stay away from the water would be a sign that talks about the high toxicity of the water and ‘Why Die’ signs at places where people drown.
I’m not sure more railings and big rocks would stop many people from walking around on the rocks. Some times people lack common sense, not sure how you can fix that?
Do you really want ‘Why Die’ signs scattered across Falls Park? What an eye sore. If you think actual physical barriers like railings wouldn’t stop people I highly doubt one of those signs would.
Yeah, because there isn’t any other ‘eye sores’ down there, like a train bridge that goes over the Falls, a stink factory that billows out ammonia and burnt pig flesh stench or a dive bar that consists of multiple trailer houses rammed together.
The fact that you need to have a study done in the first place is ridiculous. Its nature, you should not wall it off because you are too stupid or lazy to watch your kids. Anyone who thinks putting up any barriers on the falls should have their right to vote rejected (hahaha) because your too stupid to make any important decisions. I am not trying to poke fun or light of someone losing a child but, they are called accidents for a reason. You as a parent need to be mindful that little kids don’t know the world as adults do so you need to be vigilant, if you can’t don’t bring your kids down to the falls. My word what is this world coming too where we are too sensitive to have straight talks about some of this stuff. This is just beyond stupid and should not take up anymore tax payer money or the city governments time.
It’s kind of like seat belts, we have known for decades they are affective in saving lives (saved mine twice) yet people don’t wear them.

There’s not been safety concerns like this in the past. Not getting close enough to slip and fall in is common sense. One parent wasn’t watching a child. It’s easier to blame the city when you can’t seem to realize it’s your fault.
In fairness, the foam didn’t help the situation in the last incident, and I believe the case they are building in the suit revolves around the foam. If you can’t see the waters edge, that’s an issue.
Wonder how many saying walls don’t/won’t work at the border at the same ones who think they will work at the Falls.

I have often said no amount of walls will stop immigrants from coming here. Not only are they trying to escape poverty, but gang violence, corrupt governments and human trafficking.
I saw a story in the USA Today the other day about how illegal EMPLOYER arrests have been up 82%, and in that same time illegal EMPLOYEE arrests have gone up 800%.
We can solve the problem by arresting EMPLOYERS who provide illegals jobs. Give them a 5 year Federal Prison sentence for every illegal they hire.
If they can’t get jobs when they come here, they will eventually stop coming. Americans will work these jobs, but you have to pay a decent wage, which actually helps the economy.
I remember a few years ago when a local popular Mexican restaurant owner in town was enslaving illegals to work at his place. He was facing prison time and heavy fines. But since it was one of Thune’s favorite restaurants, the guy got a slap on hand a small fine. He is also still in business. The feds should have closed his restaurant and threw him in jail to send a clear message. The worst part about it was he enslaving his OWN people! That’s a new low.
The problem is all the Republicans who scream about building the wall, don’t want to do anything about the cheap illegal labor their campaign donors are getting.
Prosecute the employers and give them hard time.
Something tells me that the yearning to get closer to the Falls does not equal a yearning for greater economic opportunity and political asylum, however.

I lived in Hell Paso for several years and so true about the meat packing plant. Only difference is the one there is for dog food but smells just as bad as Smithfields.
And, @l3wis, as I have actually lived at the borders, I am all for them down south; the toxic waters at the falls should be enough alone for people to stay away from edge of rocks.
Actually, they should build walls around meat packing plants to protect immigrants from being exploited.
And instead, the adult children of one percenters should be drafted into a seritude of two years working at such meat packing plants.
And when the one percenters return home at night from a day at the packing plant, they should be greeted by happy immigrants who are cheerfully attending to the landscaping and gardens needs of the parental homes of the one percenters…
