Looks like another Sioux Falls citizen is receiving some fine customer service from the city

Gotta love Mike Cooper. He still defends that the code enforcement ship is running in tip-top shape. Don’t believe me? Just ask Mike himself.

“I didn’t want the flow chart to be perceived as an indicator that every violation involves this maze of steps,” Cooper said in an e-mail sent after we talked.

He calls the flow chart “somewhat misleading. … I think the flow chart almost makes it look more confusing. I would say it’s somewhat misleading for anybody looking at this chart. They would say this is a broken process that needs a lot of fixing.”

Funny, on the heels of a hearing tommorrow about code enforcement and due process (which is estimated to cost taxpayer’s over $100,000 in lawyer fees fighting a couple of feet of concrete and a $100 citation that does not exist on the books), Mr. Cooper still thinks everything is fine and dandy.

The customer – the city taxpayer – already is well-served by those who work for Sioux Falls government, Cooper says.

“We have a very coordinated process, as I said to the council,” he says.

Don’t you mean ‘bureauracratic process’ Mike?

  1. City citations are a badge of honor when you become aware of the process. It’s a sophisticated way of raising revenue. You do not have to be an offender. Civil disobedience is the only way to receive justice. Worst thing to do is pay. It’s an admission of guilt and they’ll cite you again and again. If you get a judgement, creditors know all about socialist Sioux Falls.

  2. Trust me, I know, after following city government I have come to learn that the mayor, half the council and many departments want to ‘work against’ it’s citizens not ‘for them’. They treat us like we are the enemy not the customer. And afterall, how can you blame them, we won’t donate money to their half-ass campaigns, only the special interests will, just look at the financial reports. They gotta pay them back somehow.

I think it is funny how they claim Sioux Falls residents do fine financially yet they get almost no $$$ in campaign contributions from regular Joe’s like myself. Makes you wonder, huh?

  3. Actually, Mr. Plaintiff, creditors (most of them) don’t care who the judgement is from, only that it’s outstanding. You’ll still take a huge hit on your FICO score (that whole system is a crock) and you’ll be buying your vehicles from Wheel City at 12.5% and getting credit card offers from Mr. Sanford.
The best thing to do is either keep a clean yard, or get a fence and hide all your crap behind it.

  4. GoD – if you only knew. They are basically harrassing him for a few foot strip of concrete that all of his neighbors have. It’s silly. I have read the legal brief, interesting to say the least.
