So I got this surprise anonymous gift t-shirt in the mail today! Thanks to whoever sent it! It is even my size. I guess one of the RS5 members was joking on FB the other day that they were going to make RS5 t-shirts. Maybe one of them sent it to me. LOL.

MAYOR PROPOSES 20 NEW FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES IN 2020 BUDGET.

I haven’t gotten all the details yet, but I guess one of the new employees will work for the mayor’s office has the title, ‘Chief Culture Officer’. Hopefully they will form a task force to determine the best restaurants in town.

I think he needs a ‘Common Sense Director’ so that when the council or mayor have stupid ideas they can tell them why they are stupid.

  1. My job is to approve our cultural slant and don’t anyone dare dare tell us differently

  2. I think I figured out who sent me this. I think they are trying to make light of the moniker.

  3. The mayor should just change the name of the Visual Arts Commission to the Arts & Culture Commission and have volunteers advise on this instead of paying someone. There are several talented and creative people on that board, I think if they put their heads together they could come up with some pretty good cultural changes to our city. What do you think Zach DeBoer?

  4. since our mayor is a hipster who came from a hipster marketing company, i suspect that the culture director will be more about the culture (attitudes, beliefs, goals, etc) as opposed to culture as in art/entertainment. culture is a buzzword among the marketing elite these days. if i’m correct and if anyone approves paying someone to do this they need to be recalled. this is the job of all city staff, all the time.

  5. I believe the ‘Rubber Stamp 5’ were a part of the British invasion music from the 1960s or 80s. Some of their more famous titles were:

“I’ll Do Whatever You Ask Of Me”

“Lamont, Can’t We Do It One More Time?”

“I’ll Meet You In The Bunker Ramp”

“I Didn’t Know Rubber Was So Much Fun”

“There’s Plenty of Room To Do It In The Railyard”

“I Love It When You Don’t Shave”

“I Hate It When You Go Camping With Your Family”

“Who Needs Dress Shoes When I Can Sneak Around With You?”

“I Can’t Wait To Bot With You Tonight”

“Its My Legacy and I’ll Cry If I Want Too, Cry If I Want Too”

    “Together, Let’s Do The Boomerang”

“A Tin Man Ruined My Concert Place”

    “Arc Dreamer”

“I Can’t Wait Until You Pave My Road”

“When Are You Going To Take My Stump?”

“Tiffany Thinks I Prefer An Other TIF”

“You’re Not 13 Stories, But You Are Big Enough For Me”

“Sioux Falls Offers Ample Parking Opportunities”

“I Hope Your Building Doesn’t Collapse Tonight”

    “Mr. Toolbag”

“I Found My Love At The Levitt”

“If You Give Me A LYFT, I’ll Give You An Uber”

    “We Met In A Pothole”

“I Left Mike, But Found Him On The Road”

    “High Speed Trains”

    “We Met At Foundation Park”

    – and –

“I Am In Love With A ‘Nothing Burger’ Chick”

  6. funny how these “fiscal conservatives” can always find money to hire more managers.

  7. ‘Chief Culture Officer’

    Could be a short-term position.

TenHaken only has 33 months left in office!

  8. It gets better, I guess there will also be a ‘Social Media Specialist’. They should just have Stehly resign from the council and take that job.

  9. why should she resign? i’m sure the ethics board would say there’s no conflict of interest.

  10. Could not have been said any better the rubber stamp for the mayor awesome.Tells you whose for the people and those against.
