I’ve have rode my bike past this ‘netting’ several times this summer on the bike trail, it can be seen for a couple of miles and looks like some kind of large bird cage. I get the purpose of it, it’s for driving golf balls. But it looks hideous, and comes up from the prairie like some alien contraption. How does something like this even get permitted? Let alone on land that was granted the city’s largest TIF?

The one thing that I find most interesting is the proximity to the airport and the height of the nets and how this got approved?
This is nothing but a play place for the Sanford good old boys club and their yuppies.
Built by a non profit hospital, its too bad the nets wont allow this place to be dried off via medical helicopters when it rains.
Sanford needs a fence because Trump has one. I have no problem with it but it doesn’t deserve a TIF. It’s a safe place for when siding is blowing off the Denty.
It’s along the side of the airport and not an aerial obstruction. When the Denty was being built, Huether had the crane extended to full height with a flag. I calculated it was 73′ into the approach pattern for the main airport runway. That’s a $250k fine. I emailed the city attorney and it was half height thereafter. That much height was never needed. It was all for show.
How would like the job of cleaning all the bird’s nests out of this?
Was this a stand alone TIF, or was the tif for the entire denny complex?
I think it was for the whole complex, $9 or 10 million, I believe the life is either 20 or 30 years. boondoggle.

You need not worry about TIFS, because the last time we approved a major TIF, Councilwoman Erickson said that such TIFs don’t cost the school district any money, because the state recognizes these TIFs and makes up the difference to a given district from the state’s coffers…. So there you go, problem solved…. Now, would anyone like to buy a bridge on 8th Street from me?…. It’s in good shape and has only been driven on by old ladies going to church on Sundays.
ESG^ – Get that quote sourced and find a state authority who can explain the claimed impact. Since the quoted is “all in”, this would dampen her at-large impact.

The source is the council meeting where they deliberated the TIF for the project across from the Levitt. During that deliberation, she made that claim.
Once the powers that be use their money to try and buy an election, assuming they are successful, you will see even more private profit being increased through public risk.
