I have a feeling it will drop even more if she continues to support the rotten pumpkin in DC, as the ag economy goes in the toilet and her continued ignorance on hemp production.

  1. I will partially come to Noem’s defense on one thing. One of Noems weaknesses is a misogyny factor, which has caused her in the past to use the #MeToo movement in a way to counter this. She especially and successfully used this strategy against Jackley in the 2018 Republican gubernatorial primary, and I think it explains most of the motivation on her part to further the investigation of McGowan as well.

But going forward, will she find enough “#MeToo” to overcome the fact that South Dakota had the worse percentage of farm land put into production this year of any state in the union? Because this reality is, and will, come at her in terms of reduced taxation, reduced income for South Dakotans, and an overall decline in public morale.

The one saving grace for a Republican like Noem, however, would be if Trump was not re-elected and a Democrat took over the White House, because with a Dem in the White House in 2022 – and most likely a Democratic House and Senate, too – these realties would work to her advantage in 2022, and especially with Thune on the ballot that year as well.

Conventional wisdom suggests a possible rematch in 2022 between Noem and Sutton, but if the Dems sweep nationally in 2020 – and with the Sutton attractive newness having already been spent – I would suggest that she is still very much the favorite for 2022.

( – and Woodstock adds: “So you are telling us that we should support Trump, huh?” 🙁 )
