Sometimes I just shake my head when I see the way this administration handles media. Why not just film the event instead of talking about it later? Weird. Have you noticed that Mayor Paul has never stayed or hosted a city sponsored public event where he has answered citizens questions. Kind of reminds us of our DC Delegation. Sure, he has gone to private events to talk about city stuff, but not public. Some examples have been the Whittier Neighborhood police Q & A, Housing Summit, Neighborhood Summit (he took off after intro). He also doesn’t make presentations at the informational meetings and answer questions there either. So why can’t our mayor answer questions from the public? I will tell you why. He wouldn’t know how to answer them.

Well said and I wholeheartedly agree. Will be so interesting to see what happens at the next Mayoral election.
A neighborhood symposium doesn’t qualify for a mayor appearance. It has to be a Hollywood production that includes an election rally. It has to be in a studio so it can be edited and safe. The mayor knows better than to travel into northeast Sioux Falls.
Marketing “gurus†like PTH don’t work extemporaneously. It’s not in their DNA. Data and stats are examined and dissected, then ‘spin’ messages are carefully crafted and endlessly refined. Only after this engineered genesis are the branding and marketing messages tightly controlled, timed and precisely distributed via carefully selected mediums. Such people would no more think of answering spontaneous questions in front of an audience, than they would disrobe before the Q & A. To be so figuratively naked and vulnerable is unthinkable.
i bet pth has found time to be in brookings all day this saturday.
