I want to remind people that Mr. Huether is NOW a private citizen, so please refrain from making comments about his presentation in a political nature. If you want to comment on his past political service, have at it, that is free game.

Huether’s appearance on Friday the 13th is bad luck for democrats. There’s a reason he has no political party. The worst mayor in Sioux Falls history doesn’t look good on his resume. Don’t LISTEN because there’s nothing to be LEARNED.

  2. i bet the 15 people who paid full price for heuther’s book feel really stupid.

“I enjoyed the filming angle. In it, you saw not only the past, but also the future of mayoral leadership in this town”…. #ZombieMan….”And I liked Jim’s question, too, about the Bunker Ramp”….”I still say we should design a mural on its southside with corn cobs and maybe a dinosaur hanging its head over it like the one at Wall Drug”…..

  4. I kind of liked it when he got in Bruce’s face about ‘attacks’. At least he was standing in front of Bruce instead of behind him 🙂

Do you remember at Democratic Forum back in April of 2018, when he asked Bruce: “Bruce, where do you want me?” In reference to Bruce’s filming….That could have been taken in so many different ways. 😉

“I’ve got a better idea”…”KELO should hire Bruce so he can travel ‘On The Road’ with the former mayor as the cameraman”…”They could rename the show, ‘Found On The Side of the Road,’ too”…. (jk)

Welp, there is 49 minutes and 30 seconds of my life that I’ll never get back.
But I listened to it. All of it.
In order that I could provide critique as someone informed.
My most critical evaluation is of the host organization.
The plight of the Democratic Party in South Dakota (including the run of difficult circumstances from the immediate past) could be such a sentimental and inspirational David v Goliath story. Some people will want to pull for “the little guy”, if for no other reason than to keep the game in balance. The party could almost be a figure of sympathy. Almost.
Mr Huether publicly renounced the Democratic Party by calling a press conference to announce that he was no longer a member of the party.
That those in the party would now welcome him as a guest speaker to a forum attached (albeit, perhaps loosely) to the party and ideological movement … well, most times you get the result for which you have set yourself.
Impossible for me to feel any emotion resembling support toward a political party which does this to itself.

We get it. You people dont like him. But you you know what? He got stuff done. All the votes were majority votes. Maybe you were part of the minority, but it was still the MINORITY. The city got the event center, the indoor pool, and everything else that went the way the majority voted. Cry all you want but the voters had a voice.

  9. Guy, I’m gonna bite.

I would agree with you, partially. I left the Dem party, not because I don’t agree with a lot of what they are trying to accomplish, but because of three main points, they don’t believe in diplomacy anymore, they take money from corporate donors, and they won’t secure socialized/public health. I truly believe if the Dems could pass public health legislation that truly works (Obama care is a f’ing joke) they would come in the true graces of a majority of American Citizens. But they are chicken sh*ts. Just do it. While the details are complicated, it is easy. Do like France or Germany, 100% covered, than iron out the differences.

  10. Ska, so how has the Denty or MAC made us a better community? Both economically or even regionally?

I’m assuming you will be giving us tons of links to the data.

    Good luck 🙂

The Levitt, in it’s first year has done more to provide live music entertainment than the Denty will ever do. And ironically cost the taxpayers a lot less.

Keep beating your meat over MMM.

“‘ObamaCare?'”….”Didn’t that start out as a Republican idea via Newt and the Heritage Foundation?”…”No wonder it’s not working perfect”….

Once in a 100, 250, and 1000 year flood events, huh? I wonder how often a Bunker Ramp shows up? I know Legacy and Hultgren showed up quite a bit, for while, until the political climate finally changed that ….. #ItsTheClimateStupid

I see little to no difference between huether and tenhaken. Hard to say this, but will give huether an edge in one category. He was always willing to engage the public. tenhaken? A no show. If these two were my choices for mayor, I would vote the amendments and leave the mayors vote blank.

Huether built the play places but put the city into overwhelming bond debt headed into a down economy. With a poor rating, there’s no financing for infrastructure. Now, Huether shows up often like a chihuahua nipping at your heels. Kick it away. Try for a field goal.

This is the mayor who built himself 6 indoor tennis courts with public money. He had Bruce locked up for 8 hours fingerprinted and in a jail jumpsuit so he wouldn’t address the council at Public Input. On event weekends, he rounded up the homeless and locked them up. Millions were spent without council vote or awareness. He tried to put a used baby clothes outlet out of business. He claimed he repaved the streets but merely painted them with tar. I’ll not go on. He made the mayors office a dictatorship.

Anyone ask him when he’s going to take his monthly TV show across the border into IA or MN (part of Jelloland)? Oh, wait, that’s right – they can’t vote in SD elections.

I can’t believe the Dems gave this narcissist a platform (though Friday the 13th seemed appropriate)!

  17. I think it is funny he was selling the book for $10 a pop. Cindy must have needed some room in the garage.

Yah, but the Dems are like a woman at port, who thinks every Navy guy she meets is going to marry her and make life great.
