I have heard from several people that the ice rink was NOT done correctly shortly after it opened. Complaints about leaks, etc. Besides the siding, the screwed up cracked flooring and paper thin walls, another short cut to ‘save money’ at the Denty. This will be costing us for years to come.
Concrete slabs on grade crack regardless of how “perfect” it was poured. Thats the reason for the expansion joints replacement.
The EC concrete was laid improperly requiring the grinding service to remove the chipping and flaking. Just like the mayor who ordered it poured?
I would love to see a comparison sheet, which lists all major repairs to the Arena over the years in contrast to the EC.
The EC has been built, I am afraid, in this era of planned obsolescence gone a muck. Nothing is built to last anymore, because capitalism needs new markets to survive, and when they can’t find them, sometimes they just cannibalize their own existence in attempt to survive.
If I remember right, the cement floor at the Arena lasted 40 years until it was replaced due to the arrival of the Stampede team. Just think, I bet the Arena floor is better right now, than the EC ever was to handle ice hockey.
