I don’t know the answer to that question because obviously there has been NO mandate at this point, and I don’t expect the city’s top employee manager, Mayor TenHaken, a (closet) right-winger, to mandate one. I believe he could do so by executive order, but lacks the spine to do it.

Several of my city moles have told me that Dr. Chima, the Health Director, did ask that the city has a vaccination mandate. If that is true, he was obviously denied, which is no surprise.

I have also heard from people visiting Falls Community Health that many people working at the clinic don’t wear masks even though the CDC requires a clinic receiving Federal money should require the employees to wear masks. Supposedly one person working at the clinic was asked wear their mask was and they said, “The mayor said I don’t have to wear one.”

I wonder how the CDC and Medicare would feel about that and future Federal funding of the clinic?

I find this concerning, because this place does receive Federal and Local tax dollars, and common sense would tell you that when working in a medical clinic you should be wearing a mask. The private clinics require it and follow CDC guidelines. Heck, Burger King employees even still wear masks.

I fully support vaccination mandates for taxpayer funded employees. As major employers like Sanford and Tyson Foods have proven, compliance is over 95%. Mandates work and the handful of employees you would lose wouldn’t be missed. Maybe the city has $49 million laying around for severance 🙁

CDC policy is not a federal law, nor is there a federal mandate to wear a mask or take a vaccine outside of the Federal Officers, Officials, Employees. This goes back to “Sovereignty” and the mayor is correct in not enforcing federal law on city property, and the PEOPLE overwhelmingly spoke out against a Mask Mandate. You want to say the Mayor no backbone, but you have to give the Mayor ‘credit’ for listening to all those people who said NO to a mask mandate. We are free, we are independent, and we are South Dakota Citizens, we are not National Citizens, we make our own Laws, Rules, and Regulations.

I learned that even if you’ve had the vaccine and (therefore) protected YOU CAN BE A CARRIER. If you don’t get the vaccine, you’re exposed everywhere. Maybe no mandate but there should be pressure. How about send them outside around the corner with the smokers? Those who got the vaccine must still wear a face diaper. Therefore, those afraid of a pin prick infringe on the rights of others.

Some will want to wear a mask even after the pandemic. You save money you’d spend at the dentist and for Botox. You can rob a bank at will. However, the mask gets in the way if you smoke pot.

I agree completely Scottie, in fact, I think it should be broadened! Anyone receiving food stamps, $$$ for the arts, unemployment, etc should have to prove they are vaccinated before receiving any more benefits.

On another note, you do realize the Wuhan has been documented as being transferred from and to mink? Are you going to man date other mammals get the jab and wear masks, too? If not, what we do/don’t do will not matter. Might make you man daters feel all warm inside though!

A year ago Penn State documented 80% of deer in Iowa already had Wuhan. Do the deer just need a booster? And the big cats at the zoo that died from Wuhan, were they not social distancing like they were told to?

Our pet cats and dogs are getting Wuhan, should they be getting 1 or 2 doses of the shot? Will they need yearly boosters? Who is developing tiny masks for them?

It is a virus, and is going to run its course chicken little. The more we shut down, mask, social distance….the longer we are going to have this going on. You chose to get an experimental shot, that doesn’t keep you from getting Wuhan and you can still spread it, and I chose to lose weight and get in better shape so when I do get it, it won’t do as much to me.
