I was downtown Saturday. Surprised me how much activity. People carrying packages showed shopping. State Theater had movies I’d watch considering interior has been remodeled. Sidewalk sculptures add for artistic appeal. I was critical before but it’s come together and getting better.
There should be a statue downtown in memory to the once “Loopers”. It’s an untold and forgotten story. Their massacre opened up the opportunity for the modern Sioux Falls we have today. Sadly, progress often unjustly and presumptuously stands on the backs of the defeated and the destroyed.
“Ya, we had to get rid of the ‘Loopers’ because they were taking over the downtown area with their pick-up trucks, their mob like gatherings, and urinating everywhere”…. “And they were then replaced by rich, drunk yuppies who sometimes vandalize local art work, voted with the displaced pick-up owners, the insurrectionists, and those who defecated on our US Capitol building floors”….
