To tell you the truth, when a majority of the council voted against Councilor Brekke’s Ethics training tonight, I started laughing, because the ones that voted NO looked like complete fools.

During the 2nd Reading, Janet even added that the ethics training was endorsed by the Ethics board.

Without discussion they voted. Brekke, Starr and Selberg (I think he was confused) voted Yes and the rest NO. The best part was when councilor Neitzert was the last vote and he had to think about it, you know, the guy who was impeached for an ethics violation.

These people are so tone deaf.

They also deferred Janet’s annotated agenda ordinance to July (which means it will be killed). Janet said it best, “You can still pass this tonight and tweak it later.”

  1. Absent Zelensky (Starr), Taupeville’s own Supreme Soviet will be in full force starting in mid May.

Action or not, isn’t a rubber stamp itself unethical?

If you must think to exist, then how does something that does not think on its own have the ability or right to exist?

Such a rubber stamp legislature is like a sex doll that never really gets any or anything. Rather, it is passed directly onto its unknowing constituents or claimed owners.

  2. Nitezert. The ultimate deep thinker. Sticks his finger in the air to see what direction the political winds are blowing from and proceeds. The guy is a complete fraud.

  3. Was PTH wearing a mask to cover his smile from having his endorsed candidates win? The puppet master has achieved his goal and it will be full steam ahead. Jump ahead 4 years, which one will he groom to be his replacement?

  4. The Ethics Board, as a body, is a nutless eunuch. They, as well as their endorsement, are not relevant. That most of the Council thumbed their noses at this training program just proves it. The Ethics Board, especially the chair, have earned this status of Irrelevancy the result of their repeated feckless (in)action.

“I’m going to file a complaint to the Ethics Board the result of this.”

[uproarious laughter] “okaaaay …?” [more uproaious laughter]

Disband the Ethics Board and remove references from the City charter. Let’s stop pretending
    a) that we have ethical governance and
    b) that there is vigorous and effective oversight to ensure such.

  5. They don’t know what ethics means. If they’ve never had it, how could they know?

  6. Ethics board is surplus cardboard waist ups from Covid restriction stadium seats. Also use some for councilors and public comment?
Government of, by, and for the corrugated!

  7. This was their way of saying f’ck off to Janet for causing them too much inconvenience through asking good questions and making sure ordinances are well written for the past 4 years. Since they couldn’t even manage to provide us even the simplest explanation of their reasoning for voting against it, I can’t help but come to any other conclusion.

On a more positive note, I have called on the Mayor and Council to make an earnest effort to build a bridge to those who didn’t get the results they wanted on Tuesday, and I hope to see them make good on this, since they like to talk about ‘One Sioux Falls’. I was very disappointed to see them sh!t on Janet’s ordinances much like bullies at a junior high science fair.
