I did not attend the Snoop Dogg concert last night, but I heard it was quite ‘smoky’ in the Denty. The SFPD released this statement;
Sioux Falls Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said that the police department did not receive any calls of drug use at the PREMIER Center during Tuesday’s show and there were no arrests made.
I guess he went on to say that there have also been no arrests made in the Tuthill ghost shooter event and the Gilberto’s incident. ‘At this time our concentration is just on arresting city employees’ (snarc).
So, let me get this right. They once worried about three buses from Fargo, but when a known hip-hop/rapper comes to town they don’t think there will be any Maryjane?
The politics of marijuana has now been legitimized, because like TIFs, authority figures just look the other way.
But isn’t South Dakota an ingestion state? So, most of us should have been arrested last night, right?
Come to think of it, this might also explain all of the confusion people had trying to get out of the parking lot last night, too. 🙂

Thank goodness Pastor Rick has been elected. He’ll put an end to all of this debauchery. Soon, we will all be attending those weekend retreat/festivals with the Mayor. AND, Stripper poles will be clearanced and smoke filled rooms will be replace with greater rubber stamping by the fundamentalists amongst us who want to replace fun with fear and potential damnation…. But then again, I don’t know about you, but I am not really so sure about all of this, for I’d rather be Compton for one night, then Colorado Springs for a lifetime.

His first term was filled with flooding, tornadoes, riots, and a pandemic, but so far this second term looks like a lot of fun.

Come to think of it, developers are a lot like rappers. They both can live a gangster life, they both do a song and dance, and if they aren’t trying to sell it, then they are either smoking it, or trying to get us to, in order, to pass around, or is that to pass off something (Someday?) like a Bunker Ramp. Because a load bearing wall ain’t as heavy if you are passing it around, nor a ramp useless if it makes you higher. Because everyone just needs to chill as the asbestos begins to float through town like music from a good choir.
For The Denty this has been very good week. You had a Shinedown concert that was 75% filled. A Snoop concert that was 93% filled and an upcoming Megadeth concert that is getting close to being sold out. Hats off to getting people to see concerts in our city.
Not only were there stripper poles and weed, but what about the swearing, too? Because for the first time since a taxicab driver in DC back in ’82, I heard Snoop Dogg use the “F” word not only as a verb, but also as a noun, a pronoun, an adjective, and an adverb, and I think an antecedent, too, or is that a pronoun, too…. Oh fxxk, what do I know?
I cannot believe that Tipper Gore wasn’t here pre-concert to expound on all the evil about to take place.
and Mike, that money goes straight out the door. As a person who has probably seen over a 1,000 club shows, it is always preferable to have these concerts at local clubs where a majority of the profits get circulated locally.
“Say, whatever happened to Tipper?”…. “She once gave Al a big kiss on national TV, then it all went to hell”…. “And with ‘Big Mike’, was he talking attendance or air quality?”….
“Say, what kind of name is ‘Koe Wetzel’ anyhow?”…. “If you ask me, that sounds like some kind of unexplained spare part left over after you have attached your new flat screen TV to your cable”… “Oh, and as far as ‘circulated locally’, well, trust me, they were circulating it locally the other night at the Snoop concert”…. (“Although, the circulation wasn’t working too good though”….) …..
Arrests would have overwhelmed the police. The end result would have been clogged court, overnight in jail, and a minimal fine. It’s major uncompensated cost from the local tax base. It was best for law enforcement to look the other way. It’s time for legal marijuana, both medicinal and recreational. Sell pot at the Denty with high price like for beer?
If it takes strippers and potheads to get people to your concert, one must wonder if Snoop has any talent. He’s certainly no Bob Marley. His best rap was beating a murder rap OJ style.
Have you heard his reggae album? Not good.
I think it is funny how the police and Denty staff didn’t even bother to deal with it, they just turned the other way since it was a publicly owned facility. If this concert was a block party in Whittier heads would have rolled.
I remember when I saw the Doors at a reunion show at the Orpheum in Sioux City. There was a joint being passed around in front of the stage and the security guard saw it, rolled his eyes and looked the other way.
“We need to be careful we don’t become the next Sioux City”….. “Doors reunion tour?”…. “That must have taken a lot of pot to envision Morrison once again”…. (“I wonder if my nephew would like to go to a block party in Whittier Heights?”…)

FWIW, the entire city of LA smells like the Denty did that night.
Come to think of it, that Snoop Dogg concert the other night was the biggest thing to hit Sioux Falls since three tornadoes in one night. Except this time no “Red Line” and not even a police line. AND, the dancers twirled just like the twisters, then left. So, the storm eventually passed, but the atmosphere was still kinda funny like many of the concert goers who wondered what had just happened. #WhatAboutAThreeDogNightConcert?
On another note, speaking of LA, the other night the Denty was also like an adult version of Disneyland. Except as the many rides took you to different heights and experiences, you found yourself always ending up in the same “One” seat:
