I agree with the sentiment, but I would have wrote it a bit differently;
You would think as the mayor of the state’s largest city you wouldn’t be so ignorant when it comes to adult use cannabis. But you Republicans are not big on facts, science or telling the truth (e.g., Kristi Noem). Now go do something you are good at, like licking windows.

I share this only to highlight the state of diminishing dialogue I see in our democracy. A state where people feel this is an appropriate way to contact an elected official. A state where people are so angry and frustrated by all they see on social media that they lash out in knee jerk ways that I believe they really don’t mean. I see these messages very often, and use it only to highlight the fact that we can do much better as a city, state, and country. But it starts with each of us modeling the way.
A better way is to address them at public input so you can get them on audio calling you a loser, or have them accost you in the lobby of Carnegie, because you know, it is okay for them to name call constituents but don’t dare treat them the same way. The only thing that has truly been diminishing is the grey matter between the ears of our local elected officials. Instead of encouraging them to lick windows, maybe we need to get them to stop eating paint chips?

When you are an elected official and in the public eye, things like this will happen to you whether you are walking down the street or checking your social media platforms. This doesn’t make them right, but this abuse sadly comes with the job and you need to move on and beyond them. Because you shouldn’t complain about them, but rather pray for those who do such obnoxious acts.
Also, when you are a part of the computer world as a successful data collector and corresponding business owner, and are known to be interviewed by the local media over the years for this expertise, then you can’t just turn around and think that all will be merry in cyberspace and the anonymity at times that it brings. Because if you have that mentality, then it’s like wanting a fast, new, clean car, but with no bumps or potholes on the road, nor mud to encounter. #IDidNotSignUp4This
Being in public office opens you up for such comments. Social media also allows for such opinions. Unless it’s a physical threat, the public can have their prose. It can be offensive but it speaks for itself. The mayor’s approach of mention but not honorable mention is a proper stance.
Just block name callers on social media, emails, etc. I have no time for people who want to attack people, let alone troll you. I block all people both on my personal acct, and my business page. I expect a level of decency from my fellow Americans.

Mike, I agree. This is NOT the way to contact elected officials. You should always address them publicly with issues.

If you’re ignorant enough to give your personal information away on Facebook, you deserve the consequences. Likewise, if you acknowledge comments from there, there’s no basis. Meta (aka Facebook) is failing. People are finally recognizing it’s mined for personal information. It’s important now to protect your on and off line security. Police use it to develop suspects.
ClickRain scares me. The fact that they can turn rain on and off is intimidating, or is it merely biblical?
