Arlene Brandt-Jenson, Administrative Coordinator, SoDak 350 and President, League of Women Voters – Sioux Falls, also wrote a letter to editor with her opinion on what happened;

The Mayor’s new policy advisor, which had not been a part of the monthslong process, says the new “framework” was created in response to concerns from “people” and “the public,” without disclosing sources.

Because they have no sources except political hacks and they would never give that information up;

Let’s be clear: city leadership has shown that they only care about the few loud voices who want to kick the can down the road. By replacing the Sustainable Sioux Falls Plan with a shoddy “framework,” the administration that once committed to grow Sioux Falls through “consensus and transparency” has chosen to override consensus for purposes of apparent political expediency.

I have NOT met with or spoken to any members of this group. I know what the media has been reporting and little else (just like the public).

It was actually refreshing to see a group call out the subversion of information the mayor’s office has been engaging in. While Lori said she would be interviewing the mayor on the topic, a video has yet to pop up. Maybe the press briefings will be re-instated this week and we will hear about these supposed sources that gutted the sustainability recommendations. We can all dream I guess (just make sure you are NOT dreaming next to a river shirtless).

  1. “I like the toupee that guy is sporting in that KELO clip, and is that bald guy with sunglasses related to Putin?”…

  2. Scott,
    I am one of those “People” who called out and spoke up against the sustainability plan that came out over the past 12 months, we curbed it, delaying for more 12 months now, and it is refreshing that the Mayor’s Office has listened to the concerns that many of us have had. I provided to you an email of what and why ‘we’ are agaisnt the plan, and what all was in the plan. WE DO NOT need to be aligning ourselves with some U.N Agenda 2030 Plan, let alone some plan built and designed around racism.

  3. Speaking of the U.N., when are the white tanks going to show-up that we were warned about?

  4. Indeed. I believe the code word is “Patented Lands” mentioned three times in a row, then the tanks will know it’s time to roll…

  5. Maybe climate change is racist if the world is going to get hotter. If black people are black because they come from Africa, where it’s hot, and white people come from such places as Sweden where people are blonde, blue-eyed, and hide in a cabin for six months out of the year, then perhaps yes climate change is racist, because it wants to make us all black…. No, wait a minute, that would only mean the eventual outcome of climate change is racist, but its prevention would be equalitarian and an attempt to maintain the existence and relevance of all races. So, that means by analogy, that if you let climate change happen, then you are woke in a conspiratorial sense where you want the blacks to rule, which is the fear, however, is it not of every white racist who is in denial about climate change?…. Oh, the irony… It thus appears to me to be rather black and(or) white. #IAwokeToAHotMorning

  6. I have proven my point(s) that none of you actually took the time to read the Sustainable Plan that came before the City Council at an informational meeting prior the 2022 Citywide Election. IF you had done so, you would have knowledge of why the “Plan” was not in our best interest, and why the Mayor has spoken up against the plan, proposing his alternate plan, which means, he has the ability to listen to, and engage with the community. I provided Scott an email more in depth on why I do not support it, and why most people do not support the plan, and shows that the Mayor acting as the At-Large Rep listens to the majority, and not the minority.

  7. But if he’s an “At-Large Rep”, then that means he’s a part of the legislative wing of the charter, which makes him a part of the city council, which is further proof that the council is not independent of the Mayors office and wishes.

    Now, I know Cheney and Pence have before claimed to be a part of the given legislative branch and not the executive branch, but in so doing, they have crossed the Rubicon, but our current mayor appears to not want to cross anything, but rather suggests that he is Rome himself to which all roads lead.

    ( and Woodstock adds: “Say, if Mannequin Monday is no longer a thing for city employees, then how about Toga Tuesday?”…. #EtTuBrute )

  8. “Say, that’s what should be painted on the side of the Bunker Ramp: ‘ROME WASN’T BULIT IN A DAY’…. ” 🙂
