“It’s very clear that throughout history that when we do business with another country that it becomes a more friendly neighborhood,” said Noem. “We are doing an exchange and commerce with them, barriers break down, there is more communication and information with that country because you are doing commerce with them. When it’s a country we don’t like, we shouldn’t be doing business with them.”
So I am guessing once this law goes into place Smithfield’s will be closed? I also see Mayor TenHaken decided to put his two cents in about foreign policy. This guy couldn’t even pick a mural, and he wants to give advice on national security?
Of course not! South Dakota is Open for Business! according to the Governor. You can’t collect Covid relief bucks when no one books a stay at your B&B cause South Dakota is Open for Business! But your relatives can collect if they own a ranch (farm).
I don’t think a governor or mayor should be picking international battles. Historically, withdrawing commerce hurts the bully. Noem and TenHaken are looking for a door into national government. Politically, kissing babies works but bias bordering upon bigotry doesn’t.
I see a definite loophole. Based on my legal analysis, the State of South Dakota can still do business with citizens in a country like China, like say with the EB5 program for instance…. #Whew!
The mayor just wants photo ops. If SD were a competitive state he wouldn’t be able to handle a debate for statewide office. He’d be too busy stammering around looking where to place the “uhhhhs” and “ummmms” and trying to figure out what facial expression to use.
Ya but the mayor is good plasma on visual advertising screens. Enough ad money from a few elite puts you on roadside movies. It’s the only way to get elected without a platform. Doesn’t matter if there are accidents from the distraction.
A Little Piece of History of the Most Wealthiest City in America…
Sioux Falls is more than just the largest city of the State of South Dakota, it has become the leading most center of politics.
From its beginnings, the early settlement of a “Colony of People” came to the area often referred to as the Great Bend of the Big Sioux River…named for the massive bend of which was formed by an ancient ice age, of which carved its path through the upper bluffs along the prairie.
Early on, it was evident, that two groups of people saw the rich historical and massive tons of natural resources, minerals, and grasslands as a future settlement upon the land.
First, by means of a chartered group of men, who called themselves the Western Town Company out of Iowa, wanted to explore, settle, and reside upon the land to build a town.
Second, another group of men out of St. Paul, MN came here upon founding the Dakota Land Company with the goals and aspirations of establishing a “capitol city” of Dakota Territory, with ties to the Democratic Party in Washington D.C.
The two groups would settle, claim, and reside on each, 160 acres of land which quickly became homesteaded under the 1841 Preemption Act, which allowed “people” from prior states to claim, settle, and homestead land with the right to profit from the land, in defense of their ‘home-state’.
Keep in mind, what a Charter is, and how one becomes granted.
Also, keep in mind under the 1841 Preemptive Act, the States of Minnesota and Iowa were granted permission to earn 10% of all purchase price of the land, taken from their states, while the Federal Government reserved the right to earn 20% of all profits earned from the land itself, the natural resources, minerals, etc.
The Homestead Act adopted in 1862, under President Abraham Lincoln, amended the early act, let alone increased that “tariff” to 40% which helped to provide for, and fund the Civil War. IT also changed some of the rules, granting to Americans who remained loyal to the Union, and not the Confederacy, becoming more predictable, and attached to the District of Columbia, aka the Federal Government.
The early framework of what would become the State of South Dakota was quickly becoming clear, but first, these two groups of people would set the agenda, by establishing their Capitol City.
The Village of Sioux Falls was formed in 1857 by the colony of men from Iowa, with the motive to establish a village on the banks of the Sioux River, followed by the creation of Sioux Falls City, established by a colony of men from Minnesota.
Led by the likes of Samual Medary, Wilmont Brookings, and Richard Pettigrew – the Town of Sioux Falls was founded in 1879.
Very quickly, political deals became apparent, that these men all had an interior motive, as by the 1890’s – they would put in motion a massive development plan which will forever change the course of the Sioux River for years to come.
Seney Island was to be destroyed, its western channel buried by allowing residents to turn it into a wasteland, a landfill of sorts, while the Railroad Companies, major Land Developers would build the Mill, a Stone Masonry, and Other Companies along its banks.
Upon the creation of the State of South Dakota, it would be decided, that the Town of Sioux Falls would become the “economic capitol” of the State, and despite the Town of Pierre winning the bid to become the State Capitol, the Town of Sioux Falls, the people residing here, would make it known, that it would become the “States’ leading economic engine, of which would house the State Prison over looking the “Town” itself, while using the land, and all of its resources to help develop the State in the future.
The “PEOPLE” of the Town of Sioux Falls quickly made it clear, they were to become the leading, most, organized people to generate economic wealth, trade, building an advanced form of capital, all of which will lead to developing the “State” in the years to come.
From the original two colonies of people, mostly made up of Germans, Dutch, Austrian, and Polish Immigrants, of who were Pomeranian Farmers, Tradesmen, and Colonists, these people, of whom were also deep in their faith, bound to Lutheranism, quickly set the the ideals, and founding principles of the area.
It would be this group of European Settlers who came here between 1850 and 1870 that quickly set the stage of what the State of South Dakota would become today…
This also means, that “Our” Great-Great Grandparents are responsible for establishing not only the State, but the Town of Sioux Falls as its leading Economic Capital.
Led by those Farmers, this rising Group of Settlers would utilize their powers at-large, to utilize Federal Monies, Fame, and Collective Powers, to massively change the landscape, to prosper from the means of Financing Economic Development upon the land, using the land itself, its natural resources, and minerals to build the Town of Sioux Falls, which all that wealth would attract new residents, businesses, and well, politicians, and bankers.
Other colonies of people soon came to the Great Bend of the Sioux River as well, establishing for themselves – East Sioux Falls (1890), West Sioux Falls (1902), and South Sioux Falls (1930).
In and around those these four towns, you quickly saw smaller land claims led by the Tuttle Family, Van Eps Family, Phillips Family, the Lyons and Axtel Family, the Brookings Family, and not to mention the Pettigrews, all of whom would help bring with them, additional family members, all of which populated the area.
The Milwaukee Rail Road Company would later come to claim 160 acres of land along the East Bank, along side the Queen Bee Land Company beside them, let alone the Federal Government led a massive effort to lay claim to part of the land above the Western Bluff later on to build its massive U.S Air Force Base that sat between West Sioux Falls and the Town of Sioux Falls.
With each group of “people” who came to this area, the residency grew, expanded, and with that, the economic wealth of the area tripled, let alone, blossomed into something so great, it quickly led to providing to the “State”, nearly 50% of all statewide revenues.
Islands were lost to time, new roads were developed, new companies came to be, while with it, all the surrounding communities became interconnected with each other, forming a large metro-area, so great, that by 1972, became a municipality.
What began as the Village of Sioux Falls and Sioux Falls City, with both becoming the Town of Sioux Falls by 1879 – a massive settlement within a square radius of 220 miles in total size quickly developed into a massive “Municipality” over a course of 70 years.
The Towns’ of Sioux Falls, East Sioux, West Sioux, South Sioux, the Splitrock Township, Delapre Township, Wayne Township, Mapleton Township; while all of the smaller Homestead Claims of each, the Tuttles, Van Eps, Phillips, Pettigrews, Brookings, Lyons, and Axtels, all became fully vested in the area today…
The City of Sioux Falls was fully Established in the Year 1995.
A surface area of 220 square miles today, has quickly become over populated, developed, and forever changed, to house such “economic prosperity”, that it rivals other large cities of our nation.
Today, the City of Sioux Falls is worth an estimated $2,500,000,000 billion dollars in net proceeds, this figure represents the profits left over after all expenses are paid, all liabilities, debts, and obligations are to be paid, yet alone, all Collectibles are deposited into our “Treasury”.
These early colonists, those land owners, developers, people quickly set the stage of how they wished to use the land, its natural resources, its minerals to create such economic wealth, that today, Sioux Falls has become the leading “tax haven” of the State of South Dakota of which produces the largest sums of Property Tax Dollars, Sales Tax Dollars, and Collection of Federal Monies, Grants, and Subsidies from Federal Taxes.
The more residency, the greater number of Federal Dollars.
This Group of Landowners, Real Property Holders quickly propped up their Strong Mayor, to best represent their city in Foreign Affairs, to compete with Other Midwestern Cities, in order to bring back to themselves, more economic activities, businesses, with the intent to massively over saturate the population, also generates local tax dollars, enough so, to pay off all those debts, obligations, liabilities.
