The mayor had to call in clergy to defend his plan. The Sustainability Director of Augustana and Professor of Christian Values had to tell us that we need to follow our (Christian) values and love thy neighbor. He was inferring in his sermon that the Mayor is doing just that and we need to get on board even if we disagree because the mayor is righteous in his sustainability goals.

There was one good thing that came out of this presser, lot’s of fertilizer.

9 Thoughts on “Jesus approves of Mayor TenHaken’s sustainability plan. That’s one.

Our body is also a temple to God and the proper and righteous maintenance of our body is heavily dependent upon a sustainable planet who’s leaders honestly recognize and address the threats to it without whitewashing.

Hollow rhetoric as a re-election campaign tactic?

The only people upset over this, are those who wish to follow a group of people who want force new things onto others. The Mayor is right, you do not set policy that forces people to do what they do not want to do. You set policy based on the desires of what we wish to become in the future, without forcing the changes you wish to see on the people today. Government policy SHOULD NOT force private persons to do anything, but it should allow the government to lead, by presenting to the people what new concepts could do, by how it manages public buildings, roads, infrastructure, places owned by the public. Only, then will the rest of society adapt to new concepts over time. Great Job Mayor for listenig to more than just a small group of people, while expanding that group to include more of the community later. That is good leadership.

The city will not change anytime soon. How about celebrate democracy and separation of church and state with the rest of the nation for July 4th? It’s brats and air bursts. Along the southern US border it’s ‘Quattro de Julio’ with beans and tunnels. At least there and everywhere but Sioux Falls has no devious ‘Bag of Tricks’.
