I was reading the agenda for the joint Sioux Falls city council meeting with the Lincoln County Commission and this line of bullsh!t really made me laugh;
The goal of effective growth management is based on a plan which designates where different types of new development should go, and determines when those areas should be opened for development. Identification of desirable future growth areas with sufficient land appropriate for development is a central component of the Comprehensive Development Plan. The growth management philosophy of Sioux Falls is to provide developable land when it is needed in amounts sufficient to prevent limited supplies from artificially driving up land costs. It is also important that the timing and location promotes orderly, compact new growth that allows the most cost-effective provision of public and private services.
Heck, Grammarly or AI could do a better job of explaining . . . and I am still not sure WTF they are talking about.
I dare you, read it like 10x, you will become even more lost, Hell, I even read philosophy and was completely lost. If anyone can figure out this paragraph, please fill me in, or better yet write your one sentence synopsis of this.

The Borders of Sioux Falls are up against many other political subdivisions. City Government knows it will be much tougher to to expand its borders to the south, whether to the east, rendering them in competition with Harrisburg, or to the west, rendering them in competition with Tea. Furthermore, their border expansion is running into Brandon, while the only means to stratically expand their borders effectively would be to the West, further into Wayne Township, which is an area highly rich in agriculture, small farms, and small housing subdivisions. Meaning, they, the “City” is up against other local governments who they now have to speak to, ,and most likely cannot control…

So, let’s hold off on zoning this parcel* as Commercial until it is annexed into the City of Sioux Falls and the surrounding parcels have been dedicated and built to housing … then the property owner can petition to have the parcel zoned as Commercial … after “urban densities and infrastructure” (read as ‘NIMBYs) have been built around its perimeter. Brilliant!
* Ironically located adjacent to an existing Light Industrial (warehousing) and Commercial (auto dealership) tracts … how did that happen?
Sioux Falls is becoming landlocked. Neighboring cities have learned to fight annexation. They’ve witnessed what scary WW2 authoritarian charter has done. The core expands and bleeds out the perimeter feeding resources into the not so magic kingdom. Brandon and Tea realize they must protect and preserve their infrastructure. Harrisburg and Canton better wake up. There’s been speculation in the northwest and north direction. Unlike Sioux Falls Hartford has focused on streets and water. The future will be Detroit-like Halloween fires crack houses for Sioux Falls. It’s time for perimeter implosion. Let it happen. Preserve democracy and Midwest small town intimacy. Push the blight into the quarry on the east side of Interstate 29.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that nearly everyday this September it has hovered around 80 degrees, or that our local weather forecasters apparently have a new forecast which is smoke? Meanwhile, our congressman seems to be more worried about saving Mt. Rushmore and wants an inquiry into a possible impeachment of Biden, but didn’t think an obvious insurrection warranted an impeachment process against the most recent former president, or that our one Senator appears to spend most his time literally propping up McConnell, while the other tries to be a “kinder gentler Republican” by routinely appearing on MSNBC and not Fox?

Even hated doublespeak by a tyrannical government means the effective utilization of word economy. Lengthy sentences, however, should be left to a creative writing class and/or boilerplates….. Oh, and supply-side economists in search of historic solvency as well.
