Patrick Lalley did a great article on the lack of transparency in Sioux Falls and State government;
When you’re spending several hundred million, justified though it may be, answering a few taxpayer questions (a.k.a. transparency) seems a wise expression of freedom.
Silence infers the opposite.
I often wonder if Noem knows the definition of Freedom and Liberty;
First of all, let us look at official definitions. Liberty is defined by the Oxford dictionary as “The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behaviour, or political views.”, while freedom is defined as “The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.”. These two concepts evidently seem to go hand in hand and overly mean being unconstrained – not restricted, forced and bound to obligations implied by authorities and hierarchies.
As a Democratic Republic we cannot be free unless we are provided the information that makes us FREE. We own the institutions.
Government is but another form of organized crime except that it’s considered legal. The public believes they’ve elected leaders. Realistically, insider wealth has inserted puppets they can manipulate accordingly. A sophisticated expensive advertising blitz of lies is propaganda the public absorbs. There’s always candidates who believe they can overcome it because they believe democracy exists. The sound volume and $1,000 dinners wipes out debate and individual freedom. With no cap on political contributions, elections are a floor show with no cover charge and free baseball caps. The best example of how awry politics has become is Donald Trump. His zombie clan ignores countless indictments, ignorant speeches, and insolvency from 3 bankruptcies. A former president who disrespects war casualties and POW’s. He’ll be re-elected and sell nuclear submarines to China. Locally, where to start. Foolish unnecessary projects awarded without bids that cost triple what they should. A mayor who only shows for ribbon cutting and walking crowds. Failing infrastructure and water plant. A low bond rating from debt for play palaces and bro profit TIF’s. It’s not muddy water, it’s slime that is drying solid with no hope for transparency.
Why does it take a dozen fat cats with gold shovels to dig for night crawlers? You have 3/4 of a billion city budget. Worms catch bullheads. You’ve got money for lobster.
When you have this authoritative type administration that this current Mayor is so proud of, he tends to believe that his wants, desires and opinions are the only ones that matter. Therefore, it has evolved to a state of ‘knowledge is power’ and with him very seldom sharing the knowledge with the public, it becomes the big issue of little to no transparency. The city and its citizens will suffer the wrath of this for hopefully just two more years and that the next elected Mayor isn’t controlled by the developers!
They hate on transgenders, gather-up transients, aren’t transparent, and are really not into transit. So, their transactions are rather translucent, if you ask me.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra, however, is some music. Music to the hears is what we really need, but a madness that transcends us all has instead become entrenched in our minds, where we are in a transient state which paralyzes us into a world of either indifference or one, where we are unable to translate or transport due to a lack of transparency, which then kills liberty while empowering the madness and/or Frankenstein in some.
