Funny, I didn’t see the Sioux Falls City Council approving this naming right;
Smithfield Foods has naming rights for the Birdcage field as a part of its partnership with The Sioux Falls Canaries.
Not sure how you can announce such a partnership? Any city owned facility has to go thru a process for naming rights, which includes going in front of the naming board for pre-approval and then to the city council for final approval.
So if they are announcing a ‘potential’ sponsorship that would make sense, but nothing is inked yet.
Also, I thought the stadium was slated to be torn down, are we now going to save it? And how much is this ‘sponsorship’ going to cost us?

I can’t wait until we get the overnight train from Sioux Falls to Pierre. It will most likely be dubbed the “Reactionary Red Eye”.
Imagine legislators in this state traveling by rail. Finally, their mode of transportation will fit the century that most of them live in.
AND, I can’t wait until 2032, when Noem is running for re-election to the US Senate and she does a “Whistle-Stop Campaign” through some of our finer towns throughout South Dakota. Then, to entertain the gathering crowds around the train as it stops from time to time, maybe she can do some lasso tricks with Corey L. as the staged victim in the crowd and in waiting.
Oh, and as the Reactionary Red Eye continues on to Rapid, I hope it makes a brief stop in Wall on the Southside of I-90 at their new depot, which will be attached to the new Love’s truck stop in that town. 🙂
