UPDATE: It may be this candidate’s employer that got their hands slapped for mistakes and NOT the employee themself. Either or, they were terminated, but NOT for corruption or fraud. It still wasn’t good though πŸ™

But I have heard so many different versions to the story it’s like trying to figure out which district Selberg is living in.

ORGINAL POST

Over the past couple of months I have been watching the city council races. One candidate seems to bug a lot of people and I have had dozens of people tell me this person was fired from their last job, but nobody would tell me why.

I always had the same answer, “Lots of people get fired for lots of reasons. I’ve been fired before, sometimes I screwed up, sometimes management sucked, etc. This is NO reason to disqualify someone to run for city council.”

So I pretty much put it to bed. If I don’t know why this person was terminated, and NO ONE wants to tell me, there is not much else to say.

Until today.

A person tells me the same thing I have already heard a dozen times, they were fired. So I asked, like I normally do, WHY? They spilled.

Now, this candidate has never told anyone they were terminated or why, but they made this announcement on FB last year about starting a NEW job in the same field;

Usually when you leave a job and you have a cell phone connected to that, you would probably lose your work phone, but if you were fired and it was for very bad stuff, they would certainly take your phone.

I have fed this enlightenment to some journalists in town that are working the details. But I will say, the termination was NOT because of a disagreement or policy dispute, the best way I can describe it without dipping to much into finer details was it was because of corruption and likely is still being investigated.

Hopefully we will see something in the Sioux Falls MSM in the coming days, hopefully before the election, because this person is not only unqualified to serve, if they were alledgedley fired for these reasons, they may have a ‘record’ that doesn’t allow them to serve. (I’m not talking about Bobbie either πŸ™

The smart thing to do would be to drop out before the election.

*As for all the council candidates wondering if it is them, trust me, this person knows who I am talking about, and none of the other candidates could hold a candle to these kind of shenanigans.

Also, it’s NOT Jordan Deffenbaugh, he’s only guilty of rocking a cool haircut πŸ™‚

  1. The other part was a certain current city councilor who worked with this person at the same place in the same department left the organization at around the same time . . .

  2. That would be unconstitutional. As we found out by the Democrat trying to remove Trump from the ballot prior to the Election. IF you think there are any issues with candidates, then after the election, prior to them being seated, raise a challenge.

  3. Too late for that Mike, but we can stop an inauguration. I have a feeling after this all gets vetted, the council will end up having to appoint a person.

  4. ‘What’s My Line?’: “Did he work at a bank?”

Oh, and Mike, it wasn’t unconstitutional. It’s just that there is a lack of laws to enforce and develop the insurrection mentioning in the 14th Amendment… You know, your favorite Amendment…. πŸ™‚

  5. Again, YOU do not want the government to remove any Initiative, Resolution, or Candidate from a ballot. IF the Government had this much power, it would have the power to restrict the people from placing any item on a public ballot. You people are wack-o-doodles. Anyone can nominate their neighbor placing them on a ballot, anyone can place an initiative on a public ballot. IF the government attempts to remove those items from the ballot, it is election interference.

Let the election run its course. IF you believe the candidate has committed a crime, or has not been found to be qualified, ten the Congress, Legislature, or City Council as to old a public bearing prior to that person being seated. IF that person is found to NOT be qualified, the “Governing board” can then vote by majority to remove the disability.

    SIMPLE.

You Democrats always seem to want to harm the process….knock it off.

  6. “…You Democrats always seem to want to harm the process….knock it off…”

Yep, that’s why so many Democrats were arrested on January 6th…. πŸ™

  7. IF you believe the candidate has committed a crime, or has not been found to be qualified, “ten” the Congress, Legislature, or City Council as to “old” a public “bearing” prior to that person being seated. IF that person is found to NOT be qualified, the β€œGoverning board” can then vote by majority to remove the “disability”.

It’s clear by the misspellings and ambiguous language in your comment that you were frustrated, flustered and mad at the responses to your first post. You want to be taken seriously? Bahahaha! No.

  8. All I know is the NW candidate is an unopposed democrat and it’s going to not be a fun time

  9. The city has no good onboarding for mayors or councilors on how city government works, and no ways to promote interest in serving on council. So, we end up with people who are just mad at the city and then make for years-long awkward meetings

  10. Sausage making is a messy business, and I would much rather have a council at odds with each other which makes the vetting better for legislation. 8 people who agree with the mayor is NOT a good functioning government. Debate, Discussion, compromise, implementation. That is the normal track policy is discussed, in PUBLIC. I think people don’t want to run because they know who is pulling the strings, and they don’t want to be the puppet of the mayor, or should I say, Matt Paulson, who recruits all of these clowns.

  11. “Yeah, and she has been a Democrat since last November! Oh My!’

That’s okay. In 2010, we had two Republicans run as Democrats for governor and lt. governor. Then, in 2018, we had a Republican run for lt. governor as a Democrat…. That’s just how it’s done sometimes around here. #ItsAssociationNotPhilosophyAroundHere πŸ™‚

  12. I love seeing Mike Lee talk about the over-reaching powers of government, BUT only when it applies to the things he disagrees with (this is so trendy in the MAGA world lately). Expanding it to enforce religious beliefs, force the will of Big Business on everyone, and force us to pay outrageous taxes to support the ultra-wealthy, that is good government…..

  13. this is Sioux falls, people get fired if they blink the wrong way of if they have a woman manager on power trips let’s be honest

  14. I was relieved to know they were NOT fired for fraud, but yeah, more like a she said, he said, situation.

  15. “I believe the more politically correct way to say that is to call it a ‘she/her said, he/him said, situation”…. πŸ™‚

  16. There are so many people that don’t want to run for our messed up city government , that we end up with literally, the very last, and worst choices.
