But, it was a Non-Partisan event. I would have loved to walk around and try to find at least one person who voted for Obama in the crowd. Or for that matter at least one minority.

During the speeches in Spearfish, a motorist drove by and shouted an obscenity to the tea-party crowd. Demonstrators Phyllis Brewer and Rachel Bowman of Belle Fourche heard it.
“I’m sad for them,” Brewer said. “They obviously are clueless. If you are an American and you don’t realize this country is in trouble, there’s something wrong.”

Spend but not tax is the way out from recession. Inflation was flat for so long. There must be some inflation. The dow will return to 12K but (with the FED printing money) it will be present 7K value. Those who cashed in retirement accounts are paying penaltys that support the government near term. Likely, the tea party is disgruntled republicans seeking attention. We’re ‘Bushed’, come back later.
Think about it. Obama got elected by the people, Bush got elected by the Supreme Court. They really have a skewed view of how a democracy works.

Bush Administration Adds $4 Trillion To National Debt
With no fanfare and little notice, the national debt has grown by more than $4 trillion during George W. Bush’s presidency.
It’s the biggest increase under any president in U.S history.
On the day President Bush took office, the national debt stood at $5.727 trillion. The latest number from the Treasury Department shows the national debt now stands at more than $9.849 trillion. That’s a 71.9 percent increase on Mr. Bush’s watch.
There ought to be an investigation of how a city public park was used for a partisan political purpose – was the city government “taking sides” – it appears so. Ditto for the public school’s participation. How could so many public officials be so willfully blind? I can’t see how and why public and government owned institutions were corrupted for a partisan political ends: http://www.teaparty.gop.com .

John- Public parks are fine, but you are restricted on what you can do. I’m not sure if they needed a permit. I know DT it applies for 10 or more. But in a public park, it doesn’t really matter. Maybe check city ordinances I guess?
But the public school participation is a joke, I have a feeling the school board will hear about that.

Assembly means any block party, demonstration, rally, gathering or group of ten or more persons, animals or vehicles, or a combination thereof having a common purpose, design or goal, upon any public street, sidewalk, alley or other public place, which assembly substantially inhibits the usual flow of pedestrians or vehicular travel or which occupies any public area, other than a parade.
Parade means any scheduled walk, demonstration, procession, motorcade consisting of persons, animals or vehicles; or a combination thereof having a common purpose, design, designation or goal, upon any public place, which does not comply with normal and usual traffic regulations and controls.
Spontaneous event means an unplanned or unannounced coming together of persons, animals or vehicles as described in this section, which was not contemplated beforehand by any participants therein and which is caused by or in response to unforeseen circumstances or events and which is neither a parade nor as assembly, as defined in this section.

They didn’t need a permit, now that I think about it, becuase it was in a city park. But they did need a permit from the parks dept.
So I called and confirmed that a permit was issued. You know, just because I’m thorough.
I figured they did get a permit, because of Unruh’s untarnished reputation for being honest and trustworthy . . .
