UPDATE: I was speaking with someone who works in law enforcement recently (they are NOT employed by the city) and asked them for an anededote about all the shootings. I first wondered if it had anything to do with the scanners being shut off. They felt that would have little impact but they did remind me that in July of 2019 the OPEN CARRY law went into effect in South Dakota and since then crimes with guns have gone up. As they put it to me, ‘Everyone is carrying these days.’ That wasn’t really reassuring. I have been surprised for a long time that we have not witnessed a shoot out in a grocery store in Sioux Falls. I guess we don’t have to worry about people being frustrated at the grocery store anymore, Donald Trump will be president soon 🙁 I encourage who is left in the SF MSM do a little digging around on this, and see if gun related crimes and accidents have gone up since the law went into effect.
This is pretty typical of Poops, and the social challenges he ignores; climate change, covid, the homeless, panhandlers, dead monkeys, and many, many, many more. This is a guy who recently said, “I’m over it.” He just doesn’t f’ing get it? Does he? At a presser today he said this about our 700% increase in murders;

The first thing I would do boy genius is have chief Thum research how each crime occurred and break it down into categories. Some may be preventable, some may not. This is Criminal Sociology 101. Why do I feel like this town is being ran by a class of 5th graders?! Ironically, they would probably make better choices. Stop worrying if you are going to get your big fat commission on the new convention center and start acting like the chief administrator of our city, of course after your jumping jacks with the kiddos. weird

Well, to defend Mayor Paul TenHaken on this topic, he is corect, there may or may not be a huge push or concern to resolve this issue, other than we just have some bad people in our community, in some choice neighborhoods.

These things go in cycles, and we are just experiencing a bad year. I blame this on mental health of some. Do we blame government, or do we blame the political culture that we live in?
I see a correlation between murder in SF and the existence of a Trump presidency. Notice how low it was before 2017, then it ticked up when Trump was in his first term. Then, when Biden became president, it went down, but in the past nine months, with polling and debate performance suggesting a Trump return to power, murder has started to tick up again.
And, as far as the 2020 and 2021 numbers, well, there had to have been more murders than those given all the stupid South Dakotans who wouldn’t wear a mask back then (Because of “Liberty” and “Freedom”), which then caused them to pass COVID on to others, and thus, a death warrant…. 🙂

There’s been cultural change. Poverty, drugs, guns access, etc.. Video games make blasting away normal. Puberty is pressure to stand out. The mental duress makes violence seem a recourse. Imagine the pork butcher or cubicle caller who got laid off after years of employment. There’s not much mind. They flip out. The homeless people who are not sure they’ll live another day. What was once middle income isn’t enough for rent. Health care is big deductibles on inflated cost. Suicide or killing starts to sound like an answer.
The police lack training and the chief has little time in grade. They show up but hide in alleys waiting years for a lucrative retirement.
Politicians waive Trump MAGA and lie about cost overruns and fraud.
The system is broke. More citizens are asking ‘Give me liberty or give me death’.
Sioux Falls is a growing Red town. The city itself is now bigger than Des Moines proper and soon will be bigger than Salt Lake City proper. This Red town is seeing murder, or is that murder seeing red?

I wouldn’t blame the mayor exclusively. I suggest politicians, CEO’s, and billionaires get security and wear Kevlar. When the cost is excessive, Musk will stay out of government and better leaders will serve the people instead of the Trilateral Commission.
Homeless veterans are often refugees from combat and despite lies from the South Dakota Republican Party video lootery, meth, loan sharks, domestic violence and homelessness are inextricably linked putting children at risk to more catastrophic consequences far more often than has happened in states that have legalized or lessened penalties for casual use of cannabis.
But, in miserly Sioux Falls compassionate conservatism is very dead because Paul TenHaken is a homophobic, christianic Republican mayor of a small city in a red flyover state who wouldn’t even vote for Jesus Himself if He ran as a Democrat. In the 2018 election TenHaken dominated the Sioux Falls general election in every area of the city but not in the core where unhoused people are trying to survive. Hizzoner wants the more fortunate to give money to religionist institutions instead of to the people who need it.
2020 presidential candidate, Andrew Yang wanted to implement a universal basic income of $12,000 a year and guaranteed income (GI) demonstration projects are underway in several states including in Colorado and New Mexico where cannabis is legal. Minnesota is still working on a basic income proposal but South Dakota is one Earth hating state where food insecurity is rampant and the infant mortality rate is nearly the worst in the US.

It makes me upset to see so many blame Donald Trump for the life issues and crimes taken place in our city. But, as we have learned, this is what the Democrat Party does best, they rile people up, confuse people, and yes, they divide people. There is no explanation as to why we suffer through years of high murder rates from year to year. But I can tell you, its most likely caused by mental illness in our society, so many people being misled by bad actors such as Joe Biden who hired a goofball that thinks he is a woman to operate the Secretary of State. Then he hired a gay guy to operate the Department of Transportation, and finally, he has a Foreign-Born Vice President in the name of Kamala Harris who does not even know if shes Black or African, or Asian. One can see how people are so confused these days, we have failed national leadership that supports illegal immigration into our country, and mass confusion in our schools. But then again, Democrats rely on these people – they keep them confused, mentally ill, so they are dependent on government taxes, paying them social security, Medicaid, pumped full of vaccines that do their bodies harm. Thank God for Donald Trump, we will Fix America Tomorrow.
