I found this quote from the continuing saga pretty funny;
In court on Monday, Hallem let out an exasperated chuckle as he reflected upon Sanford’s (Roger’s lawyer) many and varied legal arguments in defense of Hunt’s actions.
Â
“A reasonable person would look at it and say there’s no other reason†for creating the corporation than to hide the donor’s identity, Hallem said. “This isn’t a complicated case (but) it became a very complicated case by very able counsel.
At this point the lawsuit is bordering on just plain silly. How long can they drag this out… just get on with it.
Same thing with that lawsuit Dan Scott filed against Randell Beck and the Argus Leader – how many years does it take to rule on something that should be so damn simple?
These are just examples of how our judicial system is broken. A case of this type should take about two hours to decide. We know the evidence, we know who was involved, we have the reference material… just sit down, hammer it out, and make a ruling already.
That reminds me, Dan Daily has his final day in court today. He said he should get a verdict in 1-3 weeks. Should be interesting.
BTW- That case took 3 years to see the inside of a courtroom.
You know why this stuff always takes so long to reach a courtroom? Because the laywers are paid by the hour.
You start setting up flat rates for legal fees and next thing you know we have a verdict in 48 hours.
