hammer

The Gargoyle Leader will be having a live Q & A with Event Center task force members at 11 AM. I expect everyone from this blog who has been following this closely to hammer the task force members with HARD questions. Of course the AL will edit any questions they don’t think is ‘appropriate’ but if we throw enough at them, there should be a few that will get thru. So start thinking about your questions. I’m going to ask about funding.

Is anyone else not seeing their questions pop up? The mods must be really slow on the draw.

If you are listening to the audio you will see they are just letting them blab, that and the Argus censors the questions

    A couple of observations:

“It’s not about Johnny Cash or Bon Jovi concerts it is about economic impact.”

Um, number one, Cash is dead (God bless his soul) and no one fucking cares about Bon Jovi)

El Duda RENO? I was LMFAO!

I love how they danced around the funding issue. They did not answer the question.

I left a question about parking. Memory holed I guess.

    I just sent this email to Beck;

    Randell-

That session was a complete joke!

Several people sent in good questions that you did not ask. Was this a Q & A with you or with the public? Seriously!?

You let them blab and dodge good questions. For instance; Funding? They did not answer the question.

Can I come in front of your cameras and just say whatever without being challenged? Do you employee REAL journalists? I am disgusted.

I support a new Events Center, but I think the approach is less then progressive.

You really need to open your mind man. Really.

I was watching, but the damn thing disconnected never to be seen again after one of the four questions I posted went through.
I doubt they’ve even considered how to fund the new EC.

  7. What’s moronic is they are gearing up to pitch two facilities, just the wrong two facilities.

Tearing down HWF and moving it will run at least $30 million. The School Board has already said they are in only for the amount of the renovations planned, which is $5 million. So already we are in for an additional $25 million just to move a perfectly good and historic stadium.

So why not take $15 million and throw it into a CC expansion and let the school board spend their $5 million. Build your expandable $100 million, 12K seat EC downtown and put $10 million into parking & access improvements.

You’d be about $10 to $15 million cheaper than the current TF plan and you could build one while you use the other and lose no revenue while you’re under construction.

Go drive around the Arena sometime and tell me if you think that area will see any decent new development under this current plan. Other than the Sheraton & Ramada, most of that area is pretty junky and nothing there is memorable.

Build it downtown where it belongs.

But, Sy they don’t care about how much it will cost, that has been pretty obvious. I think it is irresponsible to tear down HW when they have zero estimates on how much it will cost to rebuild it.

Finally watched the whole thing. To me, it seemed Baloun suddenly got constipated every time he had to answer a tough question.
