The Ugly Table (#10)

SOUTHERNERS

Why don’t you have sweet tea?

Why don’t you have white bread?

Why don’t you have country fried steak?

Your water tastes like piss.

Your fries are rinky dinky.

I want some of that chippy dippy stuff (Nachos).

I want my steak well done.

Three dollars is too big of a tip.

Ahem . . .

Why are you so ignorant?

Why are you so rude?

Why are you so un-kept?

Why does your wife look like you?

Why do you think you are funny?

There is a reason why the South lost the Civil War . . .

Poetry Club w/ Charles Luden

It was just a gift of time
that brought openness
to the affair
There were good words
There was peace
then alcohol and mock anger
After a cup of sweet coffee
a rough good good bye

I FONDLED THE FRINGES OF YOUR JACKET

YOU FINGERED THE FRINGES OF MY  MIND

Soft urine color on your coat

Brine taste on the lips

Magic to the senses and thoughts

The wind

The clouds

A field in view

The window in time will shatter

But not your love or sullen mind
