South DaCola art club w/Brady Lynch (part 3)

Brady Lynch is an artist, born and raised in Sioux Falls.  Although he studied art in college almost a decade ago, he has only recently begun to set aside ample bits of time to create his acrylic, oversized, textured paintings.  His work is usually done impulsively while sitting at his downtown studio that overlooks a railroad, aged buildings and the 10th Street Bridge (all of which he has included in his work).  For instance, his piece titled “Saturday” was done on a Saturday when he wasn’t feeling overly creative and figured he’d just paint how he felt…numb and jaded.  “15 Red Roosters” was painted while listening to Big Mama Thornton’s version of “Little Red Rooster”.  So, all of his paintings have a story, but it may be as simple as his mood that day.

He will soon have a website dedicated to his artwork, but until then, you can contact him at either artbybrady@gmail.com or 605-941-4201 if you are interested in displaying his work at a place of business or regarding prices and availability of his paintings.  Thank you.

KCPO program ‘THE FACTS’ GOP mouthpiece?

I watched another episode of ‘The Facts’ yesterday on KCPO TV. FolkArts wasn’t hosting the show this week, but I was a little disappointed in the current host and his one guest, DR(?) Allen Unruh. He basically let him rant his BS for about 15 minutes w/o even questioning him once, and where was someone from the other side of the position? Seriously. I have noticed this show has really become a mouthpiece for the SD GOP and some of it’s extremists, like Unruh. How about a couple of Dems or at least some indies from time to time. You call this show the FACTS, but you don’t allow both sides of the issue. What a joke.

Father gets to stay. Now if we can just get rid of Lou Dobbs.

As of 1:00 yesterday, Immigration officials notified Father Gallagher that he will receive his Green Card within the next few weeks.

All I can say is AMEN!

Thanks to everyone for your notes, prayers, blog postings, and other things. Yesterday was not only a happy day for Father G, but for a couple of thousand people (try the 3,000 who signed petitions, wrote letters, and generally came together to fight against this injustice).

If anything, this has shown me that the power of the people can be much greater than the stodgy bureaucracy.

A British writer once said the time that you truly see Americans at their best is when they are faced with adversity… I can go along with that, for now!

As you can see in the Cc: box, I’ve also included Father Gallagher’s e-mail address. I’m sure he’s been a bit overwhelmed to check his e-mail, but feel free to drop him a line, welcoming him to his new home. There’s still some bugs to work out (where he will serve next, for example), but he’s here to stay!
