But according Quen Be De Knudson, the voters will decide, right after the rubberstamp council and rubberstamp legislature decides;

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE 2008–2009 EVENTS CENTER TASK FORCE.

WHEREAS, a task force of citizen volunteers has studied the facility needs of Sioux Falls and arrived at a plan to build a new events center and expand the existing Convention Center;

WHEREAS, funding such a project will require state legislative authorization and will be put to a public vote; and

WHEREAS, the events center project will not be put to a vote unless it includes an accessible, user-friendly program to refund a temporary one cent sales tax to income-qualified residents;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SIOUX FALLS, SD:

That the Mayor and City Council adopt the recommendations of the 2008–2009 Events Center Task Force.

Funny, no mention of the ONE CENT INCREASE on everything. Nice misleading. Losers. I expect only Staggers to vote against it.

While I think a happy hour is a great way to promote yourself, I would like to tell Mike I can get a Hell of a lot of two-fers for $25 at Tommy Jacks, I’m just saying.

And while we are on the topic of Mayor races, let’s talk a little about who I am NOT supporting and WHY; Vernon Brown. While I still don’t think Brown has a chance of Hell of even making it to the runoff, I think the thing that bothers me the most about Vernon’s candidacy is the fact that he thinks he is qualified to be mayor. Why does he think that? All the other candidates besides Brown have either manergerial, economic, governmental experience or all three. In fact if you were rating the candidates on that alone this is how the list would go;

STAGGERS, PETERSON, COSTELLO, HUETHER.

Being a TV journalist and marketing director for a company, that BTW has conflicts of interest with the city, doesn’t make you qualified to be mayor – councilor maybe – but not mayor. Throw in the towel Vernon before you start looking like an indoor pool.

Once the video of this forum is up on the web, I will link it, should be in a few days. I did not attend, so all I know is what was in the Gargoyle;

“I’m fresh. I’m the new person. I’m the person that hasn’t been involved in city government before,” he said.

Huether is a former executive vice president at Premier Bankcard who left that job to run for mayor full time.

I’m fresh, fresh from raping low-income people of their hard earned paychecks.

Staggers, a Sioux Falls city councilor and a professor at the University of Sioux Falls, focused on how his views of city government differ from those of the other candidates.

“You may see a little homogeneity in the views of my four opponents,” he said.

A little? The only thing separating the other candidates is their haircuts.

Brown, a Sioux Falls city councilor and marketing manager for SDN Communications, said the current administration already has a plan in place for a balanced budget.

“The cuts are ready and in place if we need them,” he said.

Then do them now, what are we waiting for? The apocolypse?

I also got this comment today about Costello, cracking the whip to cut croutons;

I have worked for Pat Costello in the past and can honestly say he is the most arrogant, uncaring trust-fund baby i have ever encountered. After confronting him about receiving my annual 25 cent raise he responded by telling me “you should be working right now, go cut croutons.” After a few weeks of pleading I managed to receive a meager 15 cent raise and was told “not to expect anything else for six months.” When Pat says he wants to control costs he means it, only he likes to control costs off the backs of the working class so his businesses can reap the benefits. Why would a man who’s been given everything in his life from his wealthy family refuse someone like me, who has to work hard to earn my living, the dignity of a fair pay rate after a year of good service? As far as i am concerned he does not deserve any office in this great city.
